Govt has Geo Super turned off

KARACHI: Government has once again persecuted Jang Group by having its sports channel ‘Geo Super’ shut down through Pakistan Electronic Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Geo News reported Wednesday.

Government has banned Geo Super’s transmission in Pakistan. The gagging of Geo Super will deprive the people of the country of sports events including the domestic events.

In spite of financial losses suffered by Geo Super lately, the channel strived to ensure that viewers continue to catch the sporting action on TV.

According to Geo’s administration, the Government subjected the Geo Super to punishment for showing sporting events to the people.

Cheap tactics are being used to black mail Geo Super. The Government issued order on April 4 to turn Geo Super off in what appears to be a vengeful action of the government against the Jang Group.

Geo Network had been uncovering government conspiracies and raising voice against corruption.

Gul Muhammad Kakar, former official of PEMRA, had been sacked for making public the illegal tactics being used for targeting Geo. He said Chairman PEMRA had ordered to cause losses to Geo Super.

Mozilla added 'Slow Firefox Add ons' to wall of shame | List of slowest add-on Firefox

Mozilla has published a list of 10 Firefox add-ons that hinder the browser’s performance the most,

an add-on called “FastestFox – Browse Faster” is on the list with several very popular ones like the developer-oriented Firebug and bookmark synchronizer Xmarks.

FoxLingo - Translator / Dictionary and Firebug are the slowest add-on on the list, which slow down Firefox’s startup by a whopping 74%.

Mozilla announced that  it will perform automated performance tests of the top 100 add-ons hosted in its add-on gallery every week, and display warnings for add-ons that slow Firefox startup.

According to sources, Umer Gul is likely to be called in for the Test matches.

Wicket-keeper Muhammad Salman has been picked for the squad, while Usman Salahuddin and Aizaz Cheema have also been included in the team for the first time.

Google Maps for Android Gets Home Checkins and Location History Dashboard

Google Maps new version for Andriod 5.3 comes up with new features like the ability to check in at home and a location history dashboard.

You can views trends and stats related to your location history, for example , how much time you are spending at home or at work.

You can now also tap Home to let your friends know that you’re, well, not out. Once you’ve checked in at home, that location will appear at the top of the location list when you’re checking in near there. 

Another new feature is related to Google’s reviews engine Hotpot, letting you add your own “aspects” of a business  for example, if you’ve found a restaurant with great live music, you can add that aspect to that place. 

Google Maps 5.3 is available in the Android Market for devices running Android 1.6 or later.

User can carry all of his or her bookmarks, browsing history, log-in credentials and open tabs from the desktop to the mobile device by Sync.

A right-to-left swipe brings up options for one-touch bookmarking, add-on browsing and other settings.Tabbed browsing is much easier. It's supports HTML5 and other web standards.

The beta version of the browser arrived in October 2010, and the release candidate was rolled out two weeks ago.

Google’s Gmail Motion Prank Turned Into Reality [VIDEO]

Gmail Motion, the feature use body gestures to compose and send emails in Gmail? It was an April Fools joke, but now it’s real by Institute of Creative Technologies.

The technology is jokingly dubbed SLOOW (Software Library Optimizing Obligatory Waving ) and it uses a Microsoft Kinect camera to control Gmail. Same team also used technology, Flexible Action and Articulated Skeleton Toolkit (FAAST), to play World of Warcraft using body motions only in December 2010.

It works pretty much as Google had intended: by using body gestures you can type text into Gmail and send an email by “licking” the stamp and slapping it onto an imaginary envelope. Check out the video below for a demonstration.

Apple Plan to Start iPhone 5 Production in July 6

The iPhone 5 can be expected at the end of June or beginning of July as it was for the earlier versions, and analysts expect its features will bear some resemblance to the iPad 2.

Steve Jobs stated that white would be available “on day one” referring to the iPad 2. That is probably true of the white iPhone 5 as well. Some inklings of the iPhone 5's features have started to appear. The Taiwan-based Economic Daily News (written in Chinese) and the Japanese blog Makotakara are abuzz with the latest news related to iPhone 5.

According to CNET, “The gist of the talk is that Apple will be abandoning the glass back for an aluminum one, as well as ditching the external antenna, which has been a source of problems for Apple and forced the company to issue free 'bumper' guards to prevent signal loss when the iPhone 4 was gripped very tightly.”

And according to the Chinese source, the iPhone 5 production is to commence on July 6. The report suggests Apple will drop the infamously problematic steel outer frame with antenna of the iPhone 4, and have an iPad-style internal antenna sending and receiving cellular and Wi-Fi signals through the Apple logo on the back. Also the article in Economic Daily points out that iPhone 5 will feature the A5 processor chip found in the iPad 2 along with new iOS 5 operating system.

Earlier Economic Daily News report said iPhone 5 was expected to have the component suppliers such as Foxconn Electronics, Foxlink, Gold Circuit Electronics (GCE) and Epistar.

Aamer Sohail (Urdu: عامر سہیل) (born Mohammad Aamer Sohail Ali on 14 September 1966 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan) is a former professional Pakistani cricketer and PCB Chief Selector. With Saeed Anwar, he formed one of the best opening combinations Pakistan has ever had.

Sohail played a big role in Pakistan's World-Cup triumph in 1992, famously telling Ian Botham that he might want to send his mother-in-law in to bat after Botham was controversially given out for nought in the final. Sohail's most infamous moment on the cricket field, however, was in the 1996 World Cup Quarter Final against arch rival India in Bangalore. Sohail was captaining the side in pursuit of a relatively large target of 287 in 50 overs. With opening partner Saeed Anwar, he got Pakistan off to a flying start. With the score at 109 for one, and Saeed Anwar (48) back in the pavilion, Sohail smashed a delivery from Indian seamer Venkatesh Prasad through the covers for four. Both players exchanged words, and Sohail unnecessarily pointed his finger aggressively at Prasad. The next delivery clean-bowled him and triggered a batting collapse which ultimately lost the game and eliminated Pakistan from the competition.

The loss had other causes, however, which included captain Wasim Akram withdrawing from the match for mysterious reasons on the morning of the quarterfinals. The five batsmen following Sohail, Inzamam, Ijaz, Saleem and Javed all played poorly. This match remains a controversial one, for Aamir Sohail blew the whistle about players involved in match-fixing.

LG Optimus Big, a new Android mobile phone with a Nova display ?

    LG is working on a new Optimus mobile phone. New mobile phone is named LG Optimus Big (News from a korean website).According to rumors it is said that the device will have 1GHz  single core processor, 4'3 inch Nova Display Screen,screen will be much brighter then Samsung Super Amoled and a T-DMB TV tuner.
   
   This would be the second LG mobile phone with a Nova screen, first is LG Optimus Black.Unfortunately the technical specifications list of this mobile phone is pretty limited. According to rumors it is supposed to be released next month in South Korea.

What is the advantage of the Nova display? 

Well, a 50% less power consume than a normal LCD and double luminosity level.
